The Taller Tupac Amaru participated, for the first time, in ProArts East Bay Open Studios. We want to thank each and everyone of the over 350 people who came to visit us at our studio and who shared in the celebration of what we have been able to do (in partnership with our communities) so far in 2008.

We need strong pro-immigrant and migrant art to confront the multitude of images of disempowerment given to us by our daily media.

This Saturday, May 3rd in San Francisco, I will participating in a group interview about Art and Activism. Other featured panelists are Claude Moller (San Francisco Print Collective), Juan Fuentes, Susan Cervantes (Precita Eyes), and Nancy Hom. The interviews will be conducted by Robynn Takayama. Neighborhood Public Radio will be broadcasting the interviews live at their installation in the Whitney Biennial.

On May 1 Oakland Families Call for "No War, No Walls, No Raids"

Two years have passed since millions of immigrants took to the streets demanding human rights and calling for "legalization for all.” This year a coalition of Oakland community based organizations, community clinics, labor unions, student groups, and anti-war organizations have planned a multicultural, intergenerational event that focuses on the root causes of migration: economic displacement, trade policy, war and militarization, and calls for human rights, social services, sanctuary, peace and unity.

My friends Favianna and Josh have been working on the Reproduce and Revolt book for a while and it's finally out. This book is done in the spirit of Rini Templeton whose work was released in book form as free clip art book for the movement. In the same spirit, artists donated graphics for this book to be released to the public to be available for use on movement flyer and posters. I am proud to have a few images in the book, and i hope to see them in a flyer some day.
